The image of a hand texting on a cell phone caught my attention, and I wanted to make a painting out of it. The challenge was to give an old fashion drawing technique a contemporary look. The flower print dress added color, and in the area below, the letters "XOXOLOL" are backward and in Italics repeated over and over, thus creating a barely perceptible pattern. The colors are chosen to make the edges appear to vibrate.

In this painting titled "Pundit 2.0," a head absent of facial features suggests a talking head. It is surrounded by confetti-like elements producing a sense of visual confusion as if denoting a pundit whose aim is to tell you perhaps what you want to hear or possibly just the facts. In today's era, we are surrounded by misinformation. The variety of colors might engage the viewer to continue looking as the visual activity is inviting.

Regarding style, it can be considered figuration combining abstraction with suggestive representation. It may appear influenced by Pop Art and Abstract Expressionism, although it's far from an Andy Warhol or a Basquiat to look further in terms of style. There is multi-layering in the abstraction, but it relates more to lyricism, and there is density at the bottom compared to a Julie Mehretu.

Also, with the presence of a male figure, the artist maintains the need for representation as crucial. As a painting, it is not entirely abstract.
