This artwork was inspired by a science article on the limited range of electromagnetic waves that the human eye perceives as light and color. The range is a tiny fraction of the electromagnetic waves released by the sun. The painting attempts to imagine what we would “see” if our eyes perceived the entire range.

This piece style can be called Action Painting and has been compared to the paintings of Abstract Expressionist Mark Tobey. These expressionist markings are contemporary. Tobey’s marks are more linear.
The background is of gold acrylic gesso paint, which occasionally peeks through the marks.

The famous painters with their trademarks copied in this piece are Murikami - flowers, Basquiat - skeleton head, Hirst - dots, Pollack - drips and impasto, and Rauschenberg - collage.
